Now retired from a career in information technology, I’m pursuing my long-held interest in astronomy by working towards a PhD in astrophysics via post-grad research at the School of Physics and Astronomy within the University of Southampton.
As an X-ray astronomer, I’m researching accretion onto compact objects (black holes, neutron stars & white dwarfs), under the supervision of Professor Diego Altamirano.
Everything I post appears in the blog in chronological order (main menu: All Posts). Each post is categorised as being either to do with my research area or more general topics. There’s a menu drop-down that enables the isolation of the two categories.
Outside of my research work I try to reserve some time for unrelated reading, and my reading list is to be found via the drop-down under Home on the main menu. If you have any suggestions for me, please do get in touch.
